The SCRIP program has been in existence for quite come time at St. Mary Parish. SCRIP is a vital fundraising tool for our parish & school. If you don't participate in the program or are new to the school or parish we want to share with you the exciting changes in the program. We want you to see how it can be beneficial to YOU, as well as the school & parish.
For those of you who are tired of buying cookie dough wrapping paper, magazine subscriptions or other fundraising items, this is the perfect program for you. It gets you away from purchasing things you don't really need. SCRIP allow you to raise funds by shopping for your everyday items without spending an extra dime!
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a fundraising program that sells gift cards. St. Mary purchases gift cards for retailers at a discount and sells them to you for full value. The discount becomes profit for St. Mary School & Parish and the fund of your choice. (Funds that you can choose from are mentioned below as you keep reading). 50% of the profit goes to the school or parish and 50% goes to the fund of your choice. Example below shows a family's SCRIP purchases for two months.

The profit you accumulate for the fund of your choice depends on the amount of SCRIP you purchase. The above example shows a profit of $88.00. If you divide that profit in half, $44.00 would go to St. Mary School & Parish and the other $44.00 would go to the fund of your choice. Please note that the first $10.00 of your profits earned stay in the SCRIP fund for operating expenses. That first $10.00 is held back every year you participate in the program.
How is the profit used by you?
Each family's SCRIP purchases are recorded throughout the year. The St Mary SCRIP calendar year beings on the first day of the St. Mary School year. Once a year, SCRIP profits are issued to the fund you have chosen. This year credits will be issued on May 10, 2012. You do not have to have a child at St. Mary School to use SCRIP. Parishioners that purchase SCRIP help the school and parish!
In order for you half of the SCRIP profits to be credited to the fund of your choice you must fill out a SCRIP registration & wavier form and return it to the parish or school office. This must be done each year! If you do not fill out a form, your half of the profits remain in the St. Mary School/Parish General Fund. Below are the funds you can choose from to which your half of SCRIP profits may be credited.
1. St. Mary School Tuition for your family.
(You may start accumulating credits now, for a child who will attend St. Mary School in the future. Anyone, including grandparents, friends, neighbors, and even co-workers may purchase SCRIP gift cards in your name and you will earn credit from their purchases.)

3. St. Mary School Tuition Assistance Fund
4. St. Mary Parish/School General Fund

How do you purchase SCRIP?
There are a few ways that you can purchase SCRIP.
1. A selection of our most popular SCRIP cards are available for immediate purchase and pick up at the St. Mary, Portage Parish Office, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-4:30 pm and are also sold on the weekends in Church following each Mass.

2. You can also order SCRIP directly online from the comfort of your home at www.shopwithscrip.com. Register to shop online using the St. Mary Parish Code: F446CFDF9287. When you use this option you have hundreds of retail stores to choose from.

3. If you aren't comfortable ordering online, you can print out a more extensive list of retailers by clicking here.
This list includes office inventory and items that need to be special ordered, but still is not the total list that can be seen on the shopwithscrip.com website. Simply fill out the form and return it to the St. Mary Parish Office.
What happens once you place an order for items not in office inventory?
All special order paper forms and online orders for SCRIP are processed weekly. These orders along with payments are due at the St. Mary Parish Office each Monday by 9:00 am. Orders received by 9:00 am Monday will be ready for pickup the same week on Thursday after 12 noon. If payment is not received the order will be held until the following week.

How do you pay for your order?
The SCRIP program is only able to accept cash or check unless you order online. Online you have the option to use Presto Pay which is described below.
1. Office Inventory- "Cash & Carry Style" purchasing
2. Online Orders- You have the choice of using two different payment methods. The first is placing your order online and then dropping payment off at the parish office. The second is something called Presto Pay. Presto Pay is similar to PayPal. It is an account that you sent up and link to your checking or savings account. Presto Pay will allow you to place your order and pay from the comfort of your home. A convenience fee of $0.39 will be applied to your order when using Presto Pay.

3. Special Order Paper Forms- If you choose to fill out a form rather than using the online shopping method your payment is due in the form of cash or check at the time you drop off your order at the parish office.
Special Retail Notices
Kohl's allows you to pay your charge card bill at the store using Kohl's SCRIP gift cards. What could be easier?! Shop and then purchase the SCRIP gift cards to pay off your bill. Enjoy the ease of shopping and the benefits of SCRIP credit.
Lands End SCRIP gift cards are good for purchases at Sears and Kmart as well as any purchases made through the Lands End catalog or at LandsEnd.com. The discount offered from Lands End varies from 15-17%; which is much greater than the Sears or Kmart discount. This can make a huge difference when making purchases of major appliances.
Special Note
If you choose to stay away from ordering online, please be aware that the order form changes each time we add or lose a retailer. Please make sure you have fairly current form when placing an order. You can check this by referring to the date located on the SCRIP form.
